LAMINATE

Basic rules for laying wood laminate flooring.

0.2mm damp roof membrane must be placed over the full area of all cement and stone floors. Strips must overlap by at least 20 cms. We recommend the use of a sound-proofing underlay. The strips should not overlap. Laminated flooring should always be laid to a floating configuration. Boards must not be fixed to the subfloor in any way (e.g. nailing, screwing or sticking)./ Boards should be staggered by a minimum of 200mm. allow for expansion gaps of 8 - 10mm between the floor and all walls, units etc. In all doorways,, throughways and single rooms larger than 10 metres, expansion provision must be allowed for and covered with a threshold profile.
